Denver

For those of you who don't know Tom and I have embarked on a trip to 20 baseball parks (and games) in 30 days. Our first stop was Denver. We left Phoenix on Friday PM (July 28) and arrived in Denver early afternoon Saturday. Saturday night we caught a good concert at the beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver. We saw the Go Team! and Flaming Lips. My camera card started having a minor meltdown so some pics were lost ;-( I am hoping that is all fixed now and many pics will be posted over the next 30 days as we travel around the US. This is a way for you to track our progress as we drive. Our biggest problem thus far has been the crack in our windshield. Although we have full coverage with no deductible, it is difficult to get it fixed while driving across the U.S.

This is Coor's Field. Altitude and heat combined with our sunny seats made for a very hot day. Fortunately it was a short game. This is an uncommon thing I think for this stadium as it is usually very offensively busy. The game was low on scoring and we were abot to move into some empty seats in the shade near the home bullpen. It was a nice stadium with good game despite the heat. There was an amazing 9 year old kid sitting behind us who knew more about baseball than any adult I have ever met.

Here are a couple of pics of Tom at the stadium. He has me reading up on each ballpark and readying myself. The biggest bummer for today was that I accidentally left the scorebook I bought for the game in the hotel. Now I plan to get a "souvenir" scorecard at each park. Coor's has a good scorecard that was easy to write on and erase and was only $1.50.


Here is Tom in front of the stadium. He actually made a folder to organize this trip. I thought maybe I had rubbed off on him a little as far as my obsessive organization skills are concerned. He said the difference is that a folder was needed to keep track of the large volume of information we needed to keep track of the hotels, tickets and directions for this trip. He pointed out that I, on the other hand try to find reasons to make notebookd to organize. Oh well!

Tom in the seats our tickets showed. We ended up moving out of the heat. I don't know how hot it really was but the sun must be much closer to the ground at that altitude! It seemed more oppressive that Phoenix (but maybe mostly becuase we had to sit in it for a couple of hours). Good thing we bought sunscreen....

Our view from the oufield! Hotdog was great and a steal (or rip off, I'm not sure) at $4.50. The best deal was the kettle korn. A huge bag of yumminess was only $4.50 (see the theme). Now we are in Lincoln, NE on our way to Boston for a Wednesday night game...........
